Kent Ninomiya. Did you know there's a new Rambo movie coming out? That's right, in January. It's simply called "Rambo." From what I can tell from the trailer, Sylvester Stalone is maturing nicely as a filmmaker. He seems to realize that he needs to make quality films with quality story lines to sell tickets there days. Gone are the days he could pack them in on name recognition and franchise alone. Stalone burst onto the scene strong with Rocky followed by Rocky II. By Rocky III he was becoming a caricature of himself. By Rocky IV and especially V it became comical. However Stalone reset the Rocky franchise and redeemed himself with Rocky Balboa. Likewise I am hoping the same happens with the Rambo series. The first Rambo movie was landmark. No one had ever seen anything quite like it. Rambo II and III became increasingly cliche. If Stalone has figured out how to humanize the Rambo character he could be on to something.
